This July, Athens welcomed educators, researchers and practitioners from around the world for the IOSFS Convention 2026, an international conference dedicated to exploring the power of storytelling through the theme “Storytelling: Finding and Making Meaning through Orff-Schulwerk.”

Storytelling was the central theme of this year’s convention and for good reason.

Long before classrooms, presentations or digital platforms, stories helped people understand the world around them. They passed knowledge from one generation to the next, preserved traditions and gave meaning to shared experiences. Even today, we often remember a story long after we’ve forgotten the facts.

Throughout the conference, speakers, educators and workshop leaders explored how storytelling can become an active learning experience. Through music, movement, theatre and creative expression, participants shared approaches that encourage curiosity, imagination and collaboration, transforming learning from something we receive into something we actively experience.

At the heart of these discussions was the Orff-Schulwerk approach, an educational philosophy built around one simple but powerful idea: learning by doing.

Instead of asking learners to simply observe, Orff-Schulwerk encourages them to participate, experiment, collaborate and create. It reminds us that some of the most meaningful learning happens not when we are told what to think, but when we are given the opportunity to discover it ourselves.

Although originally developed for arts education, its underlying mindset feels surprisingly relevant far beyond the classroom.

Today , that conversation feels more relevant than ever. As artificial intelligence continues to transform the way we work , learn and access information, education is entering a new chapter . Knowledge has never been more accessible, but the skills that make us uniquely human , like creativity, critical thinking , collaboration, empathy and curiosity are becoming increasingly valuable. In a world where information is available  almost instantly , meaningful learning is no longer just about knowing more. It is about learning how to think, adapt, collaborate and create.

That is one of the reasons why supporting the IOSFS Convention felt like such a natural fit for Snappi.
